The traditional panel garage door design, which is common on most residential homes, tends to be the cheapest choice; expect to pay $300 to $800 for installation. Roll-up and tilt-up garage doors, which are more commonly found on commercial buildings, tend to be more expensive. Installation of these garage door styles costs $500 to $1,500 on average. Carriage garage doors are a premium style which are much more expensive. Carriage garage door installation costs at least $1,000 on the low end and may cost you up to $10,000 depending on the size of the door.
And of course, the size of a garage door will influence the cost of installation. Smaller garage doors, such as those for one-car garages, will be the cheapest, costing an average of $500 to $2,500. Two-car garage doors and similarly sized doors for commercial buildings have an average cost of $750 to $4,500.
